Bowl for Kids’ Sake
Our traditional Bowl for Kids’ Sake has gone virtual this year to ensure the health and safety of our participants and supporters. But just because we can’t see you in person doesn’t mean we don’t still need your help! Already tough times have become a whole lot tougher for the families we serve, and we cannot simply put our services on hold in the face of a global pandemic. A mentor can help the isolation feel less isolating for a fragile child fearing the worst for their family’s health or where their next meal is coming from because because mom & dad are not deemed “essential” workers. Throughout these unprecedented times, it’s important to harness the good, and your support of Big Brothers Big Sisters helps us do exactly that for the at-risk youth in our program.
Aside from our mandatory Mentoring 101 Orientation, we pride ourselves on offering a variety of other relevant trainings throughout the years for Bigs, Littles, and Parents to attend when they can. We bring in experts on topics such as “Child Abuse Prevention,” “Gang Prevention,” “College Prep,” “Underage Drinking Prevention,” “How to be a Trusted Adult,” and event age appropriate “Healthy Sexuality.” We always stive to proved as many resources and as much knowledge as we can.
