The reason why I became interested in the program was as a result of my divorce in 2005, in which my family and I endured domestic violence. While we were staying at a shelter, my social worker had mentioned the program Big Brothers Big Sisters during one of our conversations. For me, it was very difficult to accept that the father of my son had given up his parental rights. The process itself took a while but the wait was all worth it once Moises Gonzalez came and changed my son’s life and eventually my own. They’ve all had love and affection for him and are always there for every birthday, every Christmas and both school and family events. This relationship is already 11 years old and I know that it will continue to last forever. I owe them all so much for accepting us in their family and their lives. I’m forever grateful.
